A new protest has begun in the trucking community. It is starting small, but it is highly visible and could spread fast to the national stage.
It has big implications for the oilfield. If the movement continues to grow, it could be a near-term negative for US onshore activity levels, but it could also be a medium-term positive. In the short-run, it could adversely impact completion schedules by stranding frac sand, water, and chemicals causing frac NPT during 4Q17. But if it keeps spreading, it could alleviate an exacerbating factor in a key potential 2018/2019 chokepoint – hauling capacity.
